# Account and billing

> Signing in, what it costs, moving to another computer, and what happens when a payment fails.

Signing in is what activates a computer. There is no separate key.

## What it costs

**A\$16 a month**, for one church, on one computer.

Seven days free first. Your card is taken when you sign up, nothing is charged
until the trial ends, and if you cancel before then you pay nothing.

Each church needs its own subscription. A multi-site church with three booths
needs three.

## What the app tells you

Account button in the top right → **Settings**, under **Subscription**.

| It says | It means |
| ----------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------- |
| **Activated on this computer** | All good. |
| **Free trial · ends** *(date)* | Your seven days. |
| **Renews** *(date)* | When the next payment is due. |
| Your last payment didn't go through | Your card was declined. It keeps working. See below. |
| Couldn't check your subscription | It could not reach us. See below. |

**Check again** checks now rather than the next time you open the app. **Manage
billing** opens your account on screenshepherd.live, where you change your card,
move to a different computer, or cancel.

<Note>
**A service that is already running is never interrupted.** ScreenShepherd
checks its subscription when it opens and at no other time. A payment problem
on a Sunday morning is something you find out about the next time you open the
  app.
</Note>

## If you are offline

It keeps working, and tells you how many days are left before this computer
needs to reach us.

It runs for a week that way. Get the computer online once inside that week, at
any time other than during a service, and the week starts again.

A service itself needs no network at all. This is only about the check.

## One computer at a time

One subscription runs one computer. That is the one in your booth.

To move it, go to your account on
[screenshepherd.live](https://screenshepherd.live/account), find **Activated
computer** and press **Release this computer**. Then sign in on the new one.

Do that before you get rid of the old computer if you can. If it has already
been wiped, releasing it from the account page still works.

## If a payment fails

ScreenShepherd says so under **Subscription**, and keeps working. There are
several days of room built in on purpose, so that a card problem never turns
into a Sunday problem.

Update the card on your account page and it carries on.

## Cancelling

Your account on screenshepherd.live → **Manage billing**.

ScreenShepherd keeps working until the end of the period you have already paid
for. After that, the next time someone opens it, the card says **Subscription
needs attention** and asks you to sign in.

Nothing ever stops in the middle of a service.

## Signing out

Account button → **Sign out**. It asks first, because it is an interruption:
this computer stops listening and goes back to the sign-in screen.

Nothing you have set up is lost. Signing in again puts it all back. Not
something to press during a service.

## Settings are shared

Change something on one computer and your church's other computers pick it up
the next time they open ScreenShepherd.

You may see a line saying it could not check your sign-in because you are
offline. Nothing is wrong, and it does not stop anything working.

## Payment details

Stripe handles payment. Your card details go to Stripe and never to us. See
[Privacy](/reference/privacy).
