# Screens

> Telling ScreenShepherd which screen is yours and which one the congregation sees.

Most booths have at least two screens: the one the operator works on, and the
one going out to the congregation.

ScreenShepherd needs to know which is which, so its own bar never turns up in
front of the church.

## Setting the operator screen

Menu bar icon at the top of the screen → **Operator display**, then choose
yours from the list. The main one is marked.

You can also set it in the app: **pill** tab → **screen** → **show the pill
on**.

## If you only have one screen

The menu shows:

> **⚠ Single display — pill may overlap output**

With one screen there is nowhere safe to put the bar, so it may appear over
what the congregation sees.

Two ways round it:

* Set the bar to **menu bar** on the **pill** tab. There is then no bar at all,
  just the menu bar icon. See [The small bar](/setup/the-pill).
* Or move it to a corner nothing important reaches.

## If a screen gets unplugged

ScreenShepherd notices and puts the bar somewhere you can see it, with a note
saying **the chosen display is missing — using this one for now**.

When the screen comes back, choose it again.

## Lost the bar?

Menu bar icon → **Recentre pill on operator display**. It comes back to the
middle of your screen.
