# First-time setup

> The short walkthrough that appears the first time you open ScreenShepherd.

The first time you open ScreenShepherd it walks you through setting up. It
takes about two minutes.

**You can skip any step**, including all of them. A service will still run.
Every step is also a settings page you can come back to later.

## The steps

<Steps>
  <Step title="Welcome">
    Just tells you what the app does. Press **let's go**.
  </Step>

  <Step title="who's singing?">
    Choose your audio interface, and the channel your lead singer's microphone
    comes in on.

    Then press **check the microphone**, sing a line, and see whether the words
    come back. That is the quickest way to know you picked the right channel.

    Full detail: [The microphone](/setup/audio).
  </Step>

  <Step title="where's propresenter?">
    Leave the address alone if ProPresenter is on this same Mac.

    You will need to turn ProPresenter's network setting on first. Full detail:
    [ProPresenter](/setup/propresenter).
  </Step>

  <Step title="your church">
    Sign in, if your church has an account. This is optional — a service runs
    exactly the same signed out, offline, or with no account at all.

    Full detail: [Licence and account](/setup/account).
  </Step>

  <Step title="Ready">
    That's it.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Running it again

Any time: **general** → **setup** → **run setup again**.

Useful if the audio interface changes, or if someone new is taking over and you
want to walk through it with them.
