Two different things live on the account tab, and it is worth being clear
which is which.
You can pay for ScreenShepherd and never sign in. Most churches do.
Your subscription
The subscription group shows how this Mac stands.
check again asks straight away rather than waiting for the next time you
open the app. It is always there.
manage billing opens your account on screenshepherd.live, where you can
change your card, move to a different Mac, or cancel. It is there once this Mac
is activated. While ScreenShepherd cannot reach the internet you will see only
check again — sort the billing out on another device, or once you are back
online.
A service that is already running is never interrupted. ScreenShepherd
checks when it opens and at no other time. If something goes wrong with a
payment during a Sunday morning, that Sunday morning is unaffected — you
find out the next time you open it.
See Activating a Mac to set one up, and
Billing for what it costs and how to cancel.
If you are offline
couldn’t check your subscription — running on the last check means
ScreenShepherd could not reach the internet. It keeps working, and tells you
how many days are left.
It runs for a week this way. Get the Mac onto the internet once inside that
week — any time, not during a service — and the week starts again.
A service runs perfectly well with no network at all. This is only about the
check.
Your church account
This part is optional, and separate from paying. If your church has not been
given an account, skip it.
Go to the church account group, put in your email and password, and press
sign in. Once you are in it shows who you are signed in as, your church,
and your role.
Settings are shared. Change something on one Mac and your church’s other
Macs pick it up next time they open ScreenShepherd. Worth knowing if you have
more than one — a change in one booth turns up in the other.
Session records go to your church’s account. After a service, never during
one. These records have no lyrics in them. See
Privacy.
You may see couldn’t check your sign-in — you’re offline. Nothing is
wrong, and it does not stop anything working.
Signing out
sign out, in the same group. Everything keeps working — your subscription
is not affected. Settings stop being shared and session records stay on this
Mac.
