Most of the time you do not need the whole ScreenShepherd window open. The small bar — the pill — shows you what is happening and lets you start and stop. Double-click it to open the full window. There is no button for this; double-click anywhere on it. Settings for it are on the pill tab.

Where it sits

Three choices, shown as pictures: With floating chosen you can pick one of nine positions on the screen, or just drag the bar wherever you like.

Which screen

Under screen, show the pill on picks the display it appears on. In a booth this is normally the operator’s screen, not the one the congregation sees. If that screen gets unplugged, ScreenShepherd tells you: the chosen display is missing — using this one for now.

Behaviour

Whether the bar appears as soon as ScreenShepherd starts.
Keeps the bar visible even over a full-screen app. Worth switching on — ProPresenter is usually full screen, and without this the bar disappears behind it.
Makes the bar something you can only look at, not click. Handy if you keep catching it by accident. You then start and stop from the full window or with a shortcut key.

If you lose it

Menu bar icon at the top of the screen → Show pill. If it has ended up on a screen that is no longer there, use Recentre pill on operator display in the same menu.
